RTP explained: A 96% RTP means for every 100 wagered, the game returns 96 on average. The casino keeps 4 (the house edge). This is calculated over millions of spins.

Understanding RTP

RTP (Return to Player) is the percentage of all wagered money a casino game will pay back over time. It's the opposite of house edge.

Why RTP Matters

Over time, games with higher RTP cost you less. A slot with 96% RTP costs twice as much as blackjack with 99.5% RTP per amount wagered.

What RTP Doesn't Tell You

Return to player is a long-run average measured over millions of spins. Your session is a tiny sample from that distribution, so the figure tells you almost nothing about what an evening will look like. Two games with identical RTP can feel completely different to play.

Volatility Matters as Much

A low-volatility game pays small amounts often and drifts down slowly. A high-volatility game takes your money in long dry stretches punctuated by rare large wins. Same RTP, very different experience and very different bankroll requirements. The volatility rating in the game information is worth as much attention as the RTP.

The Same Game Can Ship With Different RTP

Many studios release a single title in several RTP configurations, and the casino chooses which one to run. A game advertised at 96% elsewhere might be running noticeably lower where you're playing. The only reliable check is the game's own information screen, not a review site.

Jackpots Are Included

On progressive games, the headline RTP counts the jackpot payout, even though almost no one wins it. The return most players actually experience is lower than the number suggests.
